Cheap & Creepy Decor pt.3

I've finally gotten around to posting about the rest of my halloween decor! Here is a pumpkin that my mom bought on clearance last year after halloween. It was a sad and boring orange. Until I painted it a base coat of hunter green and then went over it with some green Extreme Glitter Paint from Michaels. I love that stuff! It is so pretty!! This picture really doesn't do it justice.

And now for my pride and joy...
I bought this lovely shelf at HL half off! I got it for $20. I was dying to have some sort of space in my house that acted as a mantle of sorts. I needed place to decorate in other words.
I purchased the "creepy fabric" at walmart for about $4 or so. Yes that is really the name of it. "Creepy Fabric". LOL.
I got the grey skull at our local thrift store for a buck and the pumpkins on the left are fake from the Dollar Tree. The bumpy squash is real. It is from a local farmer down the road.

The gruesome potion bottles are all made by me. So easy! The tall one is an old bottle of soap that I poured water, red food coloring and a little bit of coffee in. Why the coffee? It darkens it up to look more like blood.
The smaller bottles are tiny liquor bottles. I don't drink, but I found these at a wedding we went to recently. Another guest left them on the table after they were empty, so I snatched them up!

The label for the vampire blood can be found here. The Ogre snot is here and the Skele-grow is a label made by my friend Lindsay the Frugal Crafter. See the picture below for a better look at her labels!

More cheap & creepy decor!

What's a girl to do when she's stuck at home on a friday night with two little boys and nowhere to go? Make the house creepier! Tomorrow is October 1st! I couldn't resist pulling out my cheap halloween decor that I bought from the Dollar Tree back in August. LOL. yes August.
In my town, if you don't grab it now, it won't be there later. Esp at the DT!
These creepy spiders were 2/$1.00 at the dt. I attached them using scrapbooking pop dots.

Then I decided to go gather some broken branches from the woods and spray paint them black. I then spray painted an old coffee can black and added some sand in the bottom. Then I stuck my painted branches in it and added some rocks to keep it all in place. Then I spray painted the rocks on top black as well.

When I got it inside, I added 3 of these crows. I got them for $1.00 each at DT. I think Michael's has them too, but probably not for a dollar. I also had some spanish moss laying around and added it too!

My kids love it!!

Cheap & Easy Halloween Decor + SVG Freebies!

Things are getting creepy around here! I decided it was close enough to Halloween to start decorating! I love halloween and up until now, we've always lived in a tiny apartment or trailer. Not this year! We now own a 5 bedroom house! So I have plenty of room to decorate! Just wait for Christmas! LOL.

I got out some black vinyl and cut these creepy spiders in all sorts of sizes. Check out all the places they are creeping around!

I had seen this idea here. If you don't own a cricut (which really speeds up the process). She has a template on her blog for cutting them out. As soon as I put the first one up, my son says "ohhh Awesome mom!". Those words made it all worth while. Makes me feel like by doing little things like this I'm building memories for my children. Hopefully they look back and remember how cool mom decorated the house on halloween and really brought the season to life!

If you do own a cricut and have SCAL, you can use the files below to create your own creepy fun!

Looks aren't everything...

I think this is one of my most favorite cards that I have ever made. I just adore this little Frankie from Bugaboo. I used the cracked edge svg file that gave away as yesterday's freebie. I am not sure I like the way it turned out, but Frankie's cuteness makes up for it. The sentiment is a freebie from TLC.

 Here is the inside:

Halloween Avon Chapstick Holders-- Craft Fair Items

Here are some chapstick holders that I made to sell in my craft booth. I got the chapsticks on sale from Avon a couple of months ago for just .59 cents each! I plan to sell them for $1.50 each.
The holders are really easy to make. I cut them at 5.5"x3.5" Then a 3"x1" strip. I scored the holders at 2 3/8" and 3 1/8" Then I scored the strips at 3/4" and 2 1/4".

Christmas Hostess Gift + Halloween Freebie

I'm finally getting into the christmas spirit. This is my first christmas project this year so far. I absolutely loved making this simple hostess gift. It was cheap, fast and fun! haha. I got the idea from Kerry's Paper Crafts. If you've never checked out her blog before, you should! She has some great ideas!
The container is a from some fresh strawberries from my local produce store. I simply washed it out. The confetti and candles were from Dollar Tree. The Christmas tag on top is from Lindsay's Nature's Christmas set. The December 25 on top of the ribbon flower is from Lindsay's Christmas Cupcake Wrapper Set.
I used red stickles for holly berries and pearl paint on santa's beard. It looks so much better in person!
Forgive me for the poor lighting on the photos. I took these after the sun went down and I am used to working with natural light. I need to get some kind of light box set up.
This project qualifies for the following challenges: ABC Christmas (Under the Tree), ABC Challenge (X-Mas), Craftylicious (anything goes), The Crafty Pad (Something for a friend), Create 4 Fun (Use a digi), Flourishes (Gift), Flourishes (Inky edges), Inky Impressions (Anything Goes), Make It Crafty (Distressing), One Stop Craft (Alter It)

I also wanted to remind you of a great sale going on til Saturday at Lindsay's store!

Now for your freebies! Don't forget to stop by Lindsay's blog to snag a freebie!

I've also got a free digi for you!

A Halloween Card...

Here's a cute little halloween card I put together. Unfortunately the picture isn't the best. I didn't take it in daylight, so it has an odd glow because of the unnatural lighting. Anyways, I thought it was just a really cute image from Mo Manning. I love how the little dog is dressed up like a cat.

This card qualifies for the "get dotty challenge at Aly's Sunday Challenge and the "anything goes" challenge at Craft your Passion.

Halloween Scrapbook LO

Here is a scrapbook page of my little cutie from last Halloween. He was a fireman of course. Not sure yet what he'll be this year though. We went to the local fire station and made a few pictures of him.

I used this sketch from Creative Genealogy Scrapbooking.

A Creepy Hallowen Card + Freebie!

Only 80 days left til Halloween! Haha. I love Halloween. I think it is quite possibly the most fun holiday of them all. I couldn't wait for Halloween to come back around this year because I was dying to get back to making Halloween cards! I absolutely love the Creepy Crow Set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.

The drippy goo border is a former svg freebie, you can find it here.

I used this week's sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. This card qualifies for Our Daily Bread Designs: "3 of Something" and OWH: "Fall Cards".

I was especially excited since I got my copic markers! I could have done so many different things with this stamp, like a orange sunset or a cloudy sky, but instead I decided to go for the creepy night sky look. I googled a pic of a spooky graveyard and used that as my inspiration.

Now for your freebie! Another chic lookin' lady! If you missed the others, look through my former posts.
And don't forget to stop by Lindsay's blog to grab a freebie and check out the DT gal's work!

Hallowen Digi Stamp Cupcake Wrappers

Hello everyone! It's Thursday again! This week I decided I just wasn't in the mood to make a card, so instead I made cupcakes! Definately more calories than card making. I'll have to tell you it was very difficult not to eat the cupcake while photographing it! To make these cupcake wrappers, I simply used Lindsay's "Blank Cupcake Wrapper Template". This template is so worth it! Only $1.00 and you get a blank template, plus a birthday stamped template! Wow! This blank template is so versatile! All I had to do was layer my digi stamps on top of the template and print! Just a tip, using png files instead of jpeg makes this a lot easier! Lindsay offers both. So for these wrappers I used the following stamps: Harry the spider and the Happy Haunting sentiment from the Cute Halloween Collection, several pieces from the Creepy Crow Collection.

The first wrapper got messed up and then I changed my mind and decided to print it on orange cardstock instead. I'm really glad I made that mistake, because I like the orange so much better!

Creepy Crow Card & Freebie Thursday

It's Thursday again! So you know what that means! It's time for a Lindsay's Stamp Stuff project and a freebie! This week I decided to have another go at the Creepy Crow Collection that Lindsay had created. I just love this set. It is so spooky! The whole set is only $5.00! And Lindsay is running a special this month! For every $5 you spend, you get to choose one free single stamp! Awesome deal! Also, don't forget to check out Lindsay's blog for a freebie and links to the rest of the DT's creations!

For the card, I used this sketch from Twilight Tuesday! I just love their challenges and sketches. If you're a fan of Twilight, YOU NEED to check it out! It is definately fueling my need for all things Twilight until the movie comes out! They're having a blog hop on October 27th that I'll be participating in, if you'd like to sign up, go here. Another reason that I used this stamp for a Twilight challenge is because it reminds me of the Vampire Diaries. They have had several scenes in a graveyard with crows present, so this card speaks to that as well.

Now for your freebie this week! It is this cute little stick figure couple! They're expecting! Awww... This is in honor of my husband and I who are trying to get pregnant! So wish us luck! hehe.

You've Gotta Try this! It's a Spinner Card!

Hey everyone! I just had to share this awesome technique with you. It may or may not be "new" to you, but it was new to me and I was so pleased with the results! It was so easy too! There are several alternatives and ways that this can be done, but here is my version. I wish I had video capabilities right now to show you the spinning in action, but this will have to do.

First, I used some very heavy cardstock to cut the wavy spinning panel with my cricut. You can download the template here. The spinning action is created using two pennies and a pop dot! (Not a difficult as you'd think). If you'd like a straight spinner, simply cut a long narrow rectangle inside a larger rectangle using scal. It's very simple. For a tutorial on how to make your own spinner card, go here.

The bottom border for this card is a fall leaves border, you can go to this previous post to download it. The cute little pumpkin nad Happy Halloween title are digi stamps from Dustin Pike.
